.243 Winchester
70 grLead-free hunting projectile
Veltris Cu
We made Cu because we could not buy the lead-free ammunition we wanted to use. So we started with the animal, the rifle and the conditions, then worked backwards to the cartridge.
01 / Why we made Cu
Much of what was available had been developed around larger-bodied game. In the field, we had seen bullets pass through smaller British deer with too little expansion.
We wanted a load we could trust to deliver a clean, predictable result in ordinary stalking rifles. That became the standard for Cu.
Cu supports the same principle that guides our deer management: better for the land, better for the larder. Lead-free ammunition only earns its place if it also performs reliably in the field.
02 / The approach
We selected a lead-free projectile for dependable expansion and a clean, predictable result on UK deer, including the smaller-bodied species that can expose the limits of copper bullets.
The case, powder, primer and finished load were then chosen around that projectile, using the right components for the rifle and the job.
Lead-free is the starting point. A humane, predictable result is the standard.
03 / The range
A focused range for British deer, developed and made in the UK.

04 / The standout .243
The .243 is where this approach is most visible. Instead of designing around a fast-twist specialist rifle, we built the load for the rifles stalkers already own.
The 70 grain .243 Winchester load stabilises in a standard 1-in-10 twist barrel and can produce in excess of 1,700 ft-lb from barrels as short as 18 inches.
